The PPS4-6 Punch Pro is a 6.5" midrange loudspeaker engineered for high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) conditions. The oversized motor structure and high temperature voice coil, combined with a fiber reinforced paper cone and corrugated treated cloth surround create the foundation for a highly sensitive speaker that can handle plenty of power. You'll be proud, because these things are loud! Includes protective grilles.

High Temp Aluminum Voice Coil

Each PPS4-6 speaker handles up to 100 watts RMS, while its 4-ohm voice coil shrugs off the high temperatures created by heavy use. A fiber-reinforced paper cone and W-style treated cloth surround keeps the speaker sounding and working great for a long time to come.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • • Why Do My PPS4-6 Speakers Sound Too Quiet With the Factory Radio?
The PPS4-6 is designed for amplified systems, and users have reported concerns about getting enough output from factory head units. If the speakers sound weak, an external amplifier capable of delivering roughly 25–100W RMS per channel may provide a substantial improvement.
  • • Why Does the PPS4-6 Start Distorting When I Turn the Volume Up?
If distortion appears as the volume increases, the amplifier or factory radio may be reaching its limits. Running an underpowered source at high volume can cause clipping, so verify the amplifier power and gain settings before pushing the speakers harder.
  • • Why Does My PPS4-6 Have Strong Mids but Almost No Treble?
The PPS4-6 is a midrange driver, not a full-range coaxial speaker, with a specified response of approximately 85Hz–5kHz. A separate tweeter and appropriate crossover may be needed when building a complete front-stage system.
  • • Can I Run Four PPS4-6 Speakers From One Four-Channel Amplifier?
Yes, provided each 4-ohm speaker is connected to an appropriate amplifier channel and the amplifier can supply suitable power. Users have successfully discussed four-speaker PPS4-6 setups with four-channel amplifiers, but matching RMS output and impedance is important.
  • • Why Does My PPS4-6 Installation Not Fit the Factory Speaker Pod?
The speaker's physical dimensions can be a bigger obstacle than the nominal 6.5-inch size. One recent user question found that certain Jeep knee-panel pods lacked enough cutout and magnet clearance for the PPS4-6, so measuring both the front opening and rear clearance is essential.
  • • Why Do My PPS4-6 Speakers Sound Harsh Without Tweeters?
The Punch Pro midrange is intended to work as part of a larger system rather than replace every frequency-producing driver. If the system lacks a properly matched tweeter, the upper-frequency presentation can sound incomplete compared with a component setup using the appropriate crossover.
  • • Why Did Adding an Amplifier Make My Speakers Sound Much Better?
The PPS4-6 is rated for 100W RMS, while many factory radios provide substantially less continuous power. Users specifically discussing these speakers have noted that radio power may not be sufficient to make them perform properly, making dedicated amplification a common upgrade path.
  • • Why Does My PPS4-6 Have Too Much Bass When Connected Without a Crossover?
Because the PPS4-6 is a dedicated midrange driver, feeding it frequencies outside its intended operating range can affect clarity and power handling. A properly configured high-pass filter can keep deep bass away from the midrange and allow a separate subwoofer to handle the lowest frequencies. Users discussing PPS4-6 systems commonly recommend crossover filtering for cleaner results.
  • • Why Does One PPS4-6 Sound Different From the Other Speakers?
Differences in output can come from amplifier-channel settings, gain, wiring, polarity, or installation location. Swap the speaker connections between amplifier channels to determine whether the problem follows the PPS4-6 or stays with the amplifier channel.
  • • Why Does My PPS4-6 Rattle After I Install It in the Door?
A rattle does not always indicate a damaged speaker. The supplied mounting hardware should be secure, while the door panel, grille, adapter, and surrounding trim should also be checked for vibration. The PPS4-6 includes mounting hardware and protective grilles, but the mounting surface still needs to be rigid and secure.

  • This is a great sounding mid woofer for the price. Very detailed and great power handling. I would recommend to anyone that wants a great component built to take a lot of power and handle it. I have this in a tri-amped system and like how it blends to give good front staging. Like any component system it needs to balance with your other pieces to work well.

  • Great mid range speakers to add if you have a component system in your vehicle. I have mine in my Corolla and I felt the need to change my mids, so I went with these as I am a huge fan of RF products too. The warmth and clarity that comes with these is really top notch for the price.
